s o d a c a k e are Solange and Damian, a bubbly duo that came together 9 years ago to co-write the soundtrack for a Lake dsp media presentation in LA. Solange was making a sound portrait of an Ensemble theatre director, Crispin Taylor and Damian was working with the very nervous artists’ collective, the nervous_objects.
In all the madness of their Forbes St, Darlinghurst apartment their creative styles and love gelled and they went on to make 3 radio/audio arts programs for the ABC Radio National, the Listening Room, a sound installation at the Performance Space and a few other odd bits and pieces along the way.
Solange plays keyboards & computers and damian plays percussions (tuned, electronic & hand-made) & computers. One thing led to another and after 2 years of living in the south of France they returned to Australia in 2005 and released their first duo album, “Everything’s Always”.
They’re working on all sorts of things at the moment, including the release of another album in early 2008. Damian has started teaching audio production again at UTS and is the editor of Loop Magazine and Solange is working on a creative sound piece and keeping the wolves from the door at dLux Media Arts.
